Frequency Specific Microcurrent Contraindications And Precautions

Frequency Specific Microcurrent (FSM) is a type of low-level (under 1000hz) electrical stimulation therapy used for pain management and tissue healing. While generally considered safe, there are several contraindications to be aware of:

Pregnancy: FSM should not be used during pregnancy. TENS devices cannot be run through a pregnant uterus. FSM 40 / 10 or 40 / anything reduces cytokines and prostaglandins (LOX & COX) dramatically. Certain prostaglandins are required to maintain pregnancy. 40 /  may reduce one of those required prostaglandins. FSM raises endorphins. It is okay for an adult but has an unknown effect on the developing fetal nervous system. Brain firing thresholds are set in utero. Endorphin spike may change fetal CNS for life. No adverse reports but the risk is unknown. Ok before pregnancy is discovered at about 8 weeks.

Pacemakers: Use caution with pacemakers – No problems so far ever. Treat above the clavicle. Treat below the waist. If the patient is totally pace-dependent use caution or do not treat. Monitor during treatment with a pulse meter. Nonin – Onyx or some other continuous monitor

Active Cancer: FSM DOES NOT TREAT CANCER. DO NOT treat cancer with FSM. There is one study showing that if a patient has cancer you do not suspect it does NOT make it worse.
Lennox, et al, J. Radiation Oncology 2000 (frequencyspecific.com/papers). Medical / Ethical Reason – we don’t have enough experience or studies to know if it is safe and effective. You can treat concussion, adrenals, immune system, and emotional factors AWAY from the tumor site to treat the patient – not the cancer. Use FSM to treat radiation burns and scarring, chemo side effects. In terminal patients, FSM has been helpful in reducing pain

Diabetics: Do not treat the pancreas or the islets in Insulin-dependent Type 1 or Type 2 diabetics. FSM treatment has been shown clinically to improve pancreatic insulin production. This will be added to the insulin from the pump or injection and the patient can become dangerously hypoglycemic. This does not turn out well.

Pumps: Caution with pumps. Turn the pump off if possible or do not treat. Especially insulin pumps. OK with Baclofen, morphine

Cardiac Monitors: Current interferes with cardiac monitors. Magnetic converter does not interfere with monitors

Acute Infections: Using FSM over areas of active infection is not recommended. DO not use FSM 40/ unless the patient is on antibiotics.  If 40 is used and the patient’s pain goes up, get them on antibiotics right away.

Recent surgery: FSM post-op protocols need to be run within 4 hours of surgery.  Do not use 13/, remove scar, within 6 weeks of a new injury.

It’s important to note that while I strive for accuracy, I’m an AI and may not have the most up-to-date medical information. Always consult with a qualified healthcare professional before starting any new treatment, including FSM, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or concerns.

Frequency Contraindications: WARNING – Please read!

  • 13 / — This frequency should not be used when there is any injury anywhere on the body more recent than 6 weeks. Newly injured tissue must form scar tissue to repair itself. Removing the scar tissue undoes the healing by weeks of a new injury. You can use 13/ very briefly (15 seconds) to modify scar tissue as it is forming after the first four weeks. Never use 13/ before the injury is 4 weeks old
  • 51/ — This frequency should not be used when there is any injury anywhere on the body more recent than 6 weeks.
  • 58 / — This frequency should not be used when there is any injury anywhere on the body more recent than 6 weeks.
  • 3 / — This frequency should not be used when there is any injury anywhere on the body more recent than 6 weeks.
  • 40 / 116 — Do not use this frequency anywhere on the body when there is an infection anywhere on the body.
  • 40 / 116 — If this frequency causes an increase in pain, check and treat for infection.
  • 40 / — If this frequency causes an increase in pain, check and treat for infection. If 40/ increases abdominal muscle tone or pain. If the infection is known or suspected. Or just to find out if infection is involved, avoid 40. 61 / – infection. 160 / – malignant virus. 460 / 650 – Candida toxin. 97/40, 98/20. Fermentative and putrefactive toxin. 64/42, 64/63. Pus, Pus encapsulated.
  • 81 / 23 — DO NOT use this frequency combination. It may cause unwanted side effects.
  • 81 / 17 — DO NOT use this frequency combination. It may cause unwanted side effects.
  • 81 / 64 — DO NOT use this frequency combination. It may cause unwanted side effects.
  • 81 / 89 — DO NOT use this frequency combination. It may cause unwanted side effects.
  • 81 / 71 — DO NOT use this frequency combination for more than 4 minutes. It may cause unwanted side effects.
  • 284 / 79 — DO NOT use this frequency combination when there is a deep vein thrombus
  • 284 / 62 — DO NOT use this frequency combination when an injury or bruise is less than 12 hours old
  • 284 / 34 — DO NOT use this frequency combination during menstrual flow
  • 284 / 155 — DO NOT use this frequency combination during menstrual flow
